Uzbekistan’s “New Tashkent” International Airport: 35-Year PPP Deal Sealed with $3B Investment to Forge Regional Aviation Hub

At the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, Uzbekistan Airports JSC signed a public–private partnership (PPP) agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Vision International Investment to build and operate the “New Tashkent” international airport. Under the 35-year external management contract, the project will be delivered in cooperation with leading firms from Saudi Arabia, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.  

The new airport complex will be developed across 1,310 hectares in the Urta Chirchik and Kuyi Chirchik districts of Tashkent Region between 2026 and 2030. The initial phase will attract roughly USD 3 billion in foreign direct investment. A modern passenger terminal, four times larger than the current one, is planned to handle 20 million passengers annually at launch, with capacity eventually rising to 46 million.  

To enhance passenger experience and safety, the terminal will deploy fast track check in, security, and baggage handling systems powered by advanced information technologies. More than 40 telescopic boarding bridges and over 160 aircraft parking stands will streamline passenger flow. Two runways will enable simultaneous take offs and landings, supporting over 30 flight operations per hour. State-of-the-art navigation, meteorological, and safety systems will allow all aircraft types to operate in any weather.  

Convenient road and local rail links will connect the airport to the capital and other regions, facilitating access for residents and visitors alike. Beyond boosting national economic growth and tourism, the airport is expected to strengthen Uzbekistan’s standing on the regional aviation map.
